Strip Curtains
Strip curtains create a clear, flexible barrier at the doorway - keeping conditioned air inside and unwanted elements outside - while still allowing easy walk-through, pet, and forklift access. Strip curtains reduce temperature loss, dust, insects, and noise without the obtrusion of a solid door.
Key benefits of strip curtains
-
Energy Saving / Temperature Insulation: Help prevent heated or cooled air from escaping to reduce HVAC run time.
-
Noise & Dust Reduction: Overlapping strips dampen sound and limit dust drifting between spaces.
-
Visibility & Safety: Transparent options keep sightlines clear for people, pets, carts, or forklifts.
-
Durable, Low-Maintenance, Non-Stick: Tough, non-stick PVC stands up to daily use; individual strips are simple to replace.
-
Easy Install: Situate the mounting bar, set your desired overlap, snap on those curtain strips - done.
Where each variant fits
HOME (Smooth, Clear PVC)
Ideal for residential and pet doors.
-
✔ Better temperature insulation to help keep conditioned air inside
-
✔ Noise control & less dust at the entry
-
✔ Smooth, durable pet access with clear visibility
-
✔ Easy install - aluminum mounting bar for doors; plastic bar for doghouses
COMMERCIAL (Ribbed + Low-Temp Reinforced)
Built for warehouses, supermarket freezers/walk-ins/cold storage, freezer trucks, and greenhouse aisles.
-
Ribbed (Scratch-Guard), non-stick surfaces shed abrasion in high-traffic areas
-
Low-Temp Reinforced options stay flexible and help retain cold air at docks and coolers
-
Clear sightlines for safer material handling
LAB & SPECIALTY (Anti-Static, Opaque, Colored)
Designed for labs, electronics, airports, baggage claim, and controlled zones.
-
Anti-Static helps reduce static build-up and dust attraction around sensitive processes
-
Opaque limits line-of-sight for privacy and light control
-
Dark Amber / Aztec Orange enable color-coded areas and visual signaling
How do strip curtains work?
A mounting bar holds overlapping PVC strips (typically 8–12″ wide). The overlap between adjacent strips forms a flexible seal. People, pets, or equipment pass through; the strips then fall back into place, restoring the barrier that helps contain temperature, limit dust and insects, and dampen noise.
Choosing the right strip curtain
Doorway Dimensions
-
Measure the width and height of the opening. Order enough linear footage for your chosen overlap (often 33% or 50%).
-
For taller/windier openings, choose wider and thicker strips and/or a greater overlap.
Strip Width & Thickness
-
Residential: 8-12″ wide, ~0.06”-0.08″ thickness is common.
-
Commercial heavy-duty: 8-12″ (sometimes wider), thicker (≈0.12″ - 0.16″) for windy areas, durability and forklift traffic.
Temperature Range
-
Standard smooth for typical conditions; low-temp formulations stay flexible in coolers/freezers.
-
Ribbed non-stick scratch-resistant for commercial low temperature freezers
Traffic Type
-
Pedestrian/pet → smooth.
-
Carts/forklifts → ribbed to handle abrasion.
Mounting Hardware
-
Aluminum mounting bar with bullets for doors and commercial frames.
-
Black and Gray HTP mounting bars are a lightweight option for smaller openings (e.g., doghouses).
Aesthetics & Compliance
-
Choose clear for obvious sightlines, opaque for privacy, and colored (Dark Amber/Aztec Orange) for zone marking.
-
Use anti-static where static reduction is desirable (labs/electronics areas).
Trade-offs and considerations
-
Upfront cost vs. savings: Heavier gauges and specialty materials cost more, but can deliver better durability and energy savings.
-
Overlap vs. ease of pass-through: More overlap improves sealing, but increases push-through resistance.
-
Environment & use: Consider wind, temperature swings, and whether the opening sees pets, pedestrians, or forklifts.
